Pre-Kindergarten

In an atmosphere where the practice of virtue and of independence are promoted, our program is designed to guide the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional development of the child. St. Michael’s drive towards academic excellence will help children be ready for Kindergarten by the end of the term.

Curriculum

St. Michael Pre-kindergarten curriculum is aligned to the State of Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards using the framework of The Creative Curriculum, also used by the Diocese of Columbus. The Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive, hands-on, and developmentally-appropriate program.  We also use the Letter People phonics puppets; Orton-Gullingham Multisensory Phonics Instruction; and interactive Math, Science, and Social Studies with a balance between instructional skills and play. This program helps educators create high-quality programs that meet the unique needs of the children and families they serve.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The St. Michael Pre-Kindergarten utilizes the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.  This religious education program takes place in a special room called an Atrium. In the Atrium a child is given the opportunity to develop the spiritual potential that every child has for God. In the Atrium children are given the opportunity to fall in love with God through encountering Jesus the Good Shepherd with different hands-on experiences of our faith.

Testimonials

“Our son attended two years of Pre-K at St. Michael School and we honestly found it to be a complete blessing. Our son struggled socially and the Pre-K team went above and beyond to help our son grow and thrive. Now he loves school, he’s eager to learn and he loves his friends. They also gave him the social skills he needs to form new friendships as he moves up in grades. The team that has been put together for the Pre-K is just phenomenal! They are compassionate, understanding, helpful, knowledgeable, loving and most importantly, they feel like a family. The Pre-K classes are structured well with both play and education. Our son thrived on having a structured day and being able to learn both through play and sit-down learning. By his second year of Pre-K he was coming home and telling us all of the cool things he learned and we couldn’t be happier. We highly recommend St. Michael Pre-K for anyone looking for a family-oriented, well-balanced environment that sets children up to grow and thrive both socially and in their education and faith!”
